White vinegar:

An excellent disinfectant, white vinegar is also a remarkable deodoriser. Like bleach, which is best avoided, it can also be used to thoroughly clean the whole house.

To put an end to persistent odours, use a sponge soaked in the product to wipe over the edges of your toilet.

As well as removing bacteria and mould, the stench will also disappear. For dirt that you feel is too stubborn to remove, use a toilet brush to remove the slightest trace.

For drying, use a microfibre cloth.

Of course, this method will come in handy for anything that smells of washing machines, dishwashers or kitty litter.

Baking soda:

To deodorise with bicarbonate of soda, simply sprinkle some in the bowl and leave it to work for about half an hour.

Then scrub the rims and sides with a toilet brush to get rid of any unpleasant odours at the same time.

This is a highly effective disinfectant that can be used to clean more than one surface in the home.

Homemade deodorising tablets:

Inexpensive, deodorising tablets will eliminate unpleasant odours by getting rid of the bacteria that infest the toilet bowl. All you need is :

A teaspoon of white vinegar
1 lemon juice
A few drops of essential oil of your choice
A cup of bicarbonate of soda
A teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide
How to use?

To prepare your deodorising tablets, mix the ingredients to make capsules that you leave to dry overnight.

As soon as you notice a bad smell, simply throw a tablet down the toilet before flushing. The result is a pleasant smell and clearer pipes.

Ventilation is also important for eliminating unpleasant odours. You should air your toilet or bathroom regularly by opening the window wide.

If you don’t have one, you can use a fan to cool the bathroom and get rid of damp odours.
